HOW WE LAUNCHED THE GRADUATE CAMBRIDGE LEISURE CLUB'S WEBSITE.
For Graduate Cambridge Leisure Club, our focus was on launching a standalone website that clearly communicated the club’s offering, appealed to a local audience, and was built with strong SEO foundations from day one.
OUR INTRODUCTION TO GRADUATE CAMBRIDGE LEISURE CLUB

Graduate Cambridge Leisure Club required a dedicated website to support its gym, spa, pool, and personal training facilities. They approached us to help launch their website and increase new-member conversions. While the club sits within a well-known hotel brand, the goal was to attract Cambridge locals, not just hotel guests, and position the club as a genuine local option
To achieve this, the website needed to clearly explain multiple services. They wanted to guide users towards memberships and enquiries whilst launching with strong SEO foundations in a competitive local fitness market. After reviewing the brief, we supported the website launch with a search-led structure and content strategy that prioritised clarity, usability, and long-term discoverability.
THEIR SEO REQUIREMENTS
01
PROVIDE GUIDANCE ON TECH ISSUES.
The website needed to be launched with strong technical foundations. This meant search engines could properly crawl, understand, and rank the site from day one, avoiding the need for retroactive fixes post-launch.
02
DEFINE THE USER JOURNEY.
As the leisure club offers multiple services, we needed to create a clear user journey for two audiences: local members and hotel guests. We needed to help visitors quickly understand what was available and guide them towards the right next step.
03
CONTENT CREATION.
They needed clear, search-led content designed around how people look for gyms and leisure facilities in Cambridge. Service-specific pages and explanatory copy needed to balance clarity and intent, helping the club appear in relevant local searches.
04
SET UP THE GOOGLE SUITE.
Google applications were needed to ensure accurate tracking from launch. We wanted to provide a clear picture of user behaviour, search performance, and growth opportunities, allowing decisions to be driven by data rather than assumptions.

THE KEY CHALLENGES.
Establishing a Standalone Leisure Identity:
The leisure club needed to exist independently from the hotel brand, with a website that clearly positioned it as a genuine local option rather than a secondary facility.
Explaining Multiple Services Clearly:
Gym access, personal training, swimming pool facilities, and memberships all needed distinct positioning, without creating confusion or friction for new users.
Competing in a Saturated Local Market:
Cambridge has a competitive fitness and leisure landscape, requiring clear differentiation and visibility across high-intent local searches.
Launching With Long-Term SEO in Mind:
Rather than retrofitting SEO later, the website needed to launch with a strong structural and technical foundation to support ongoing growth.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR SEO IMPROVEMENT.
Clear Service-Led Page Structure:
We wanted to create dedicated pages for gym memberships, personal training and swimming pool access, helping users and search engines understand the offering instantly.
Search-Led Content Creation:
By aligning its content with real local search behaviour, the website could attract high-intent users actively seeking leisure and fitness options in Cambridge.
SEO Foundations Built Into Launch:
Implementing optimised metadata, internal linking, and indexable site architecture from the outset removed the need for future structural rework.
Local Visibility Support:
Ensuring the site launched with strong local relevance helped position the leisure club as a credible alternative to established Cambridge gyms.

THE SEO STRATEGY
IMPLEMENTATION AND INDEXATION.
Using our research, we implemented on-page SEO updates across key pages, ensuring content, metadata and internal linking aligned with search intent. Indexation was actively managed to surface the right pages as the site grew.
KEYWORD RESEARCH.
We carried out in-depth keyword research to understand how people in Cambridge actually search for gyms and swimming pools. This helped us prioritise the most relevant, high-intent search terms and shape the site around real demand, rather than assumptions about what users might be looking for.
GOOGLE SUITE SET-UP.
Once the website launched, we implemented Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Business Profile, and Google Search Console to ensure accurate tracking from day one. This gave clear insight into how users interacted with the site and where optimisation opportunities existed.
6-MONTH REVIEW AND REFRESH.
At the end of the six months, we delivered a comprehensive review outlining progress, learnings and next steps. This ensured the strategy remained adaptable and future-focused.
DYNAMIC MONTHLY REPORTING
We created a bespoke, dynamic monthly report to track visibility, traffic, and engagement over time. This kept the strategy transparent and enabled consistent performance review. It also gave the client direct access to up-to-date SEO trends, helping them make marketing decisions without waiting for a manual update.
CONTENT CREATION.
Once we had solid SEO foundations, we could begin optimising the website's content. We focused on optimising for SEO intent, specifically commercial and transactional intent. We positioned Graduate Cambridge Leisure Club as a premium gym and leisure option in Cambridge.
